A heart in an apple.

I wonder if it's possible to actually bite a heart out from an apple. Try it? ;)

Miniature apple with a heart-shaped bite handsculpted by me with polymer clay, made into a keychain. ♥

Farewell my friend! { miniature egg tarts }

I have a friend and family-to-be who was leaving for hongkong for a good few years, and I wanted to make a farewell gift for her.

Photo taken by Li Lin! ♥ Also, not my hand there, I could never have painted nails due to my work!

This is what I decided to make - one of Hong Kong's famous foods, some miniature egg tarts. :)
Oh, and I put it on a ring so she can wear it and always be reminded of the good things in HK. ♥

Are anyone of you from Hong Kong or like dim sum as much as I do?
Let me know what are your favourite dishes!

My Cheeseburger Story.

Last Saturday, a burger-making workshop happened.
Not your regular burger, but a MINIATURE one. :)

I'm here to share a few photos of that day, and also fill you in on some juicy behind-the-scenes details.

So, for every workshop there is ALWAYS something going wrong during preparation and during the actual workshop. Don't get me wrong, we all have fun crafting but nothing ever goes perfectly to plan. Sometimes it's little small hiccups which I can get away with without participants even knowing about. ;)

Of course this workshop came with its fair share of bumps. Let me tell you a story about a very special cheeseburger.

Whenever possible, I've always loved to get real life versions of whichever food we're making so that the participants get to compare them during crafting. Similarly for this workshop, I wanted to get a real life burger that looked like the miniature version.

Oh my, searching turned out to be SO DIFFICULT. I originally thought I could just research online for photos on the various fast food websites. That worked out well and I found Burger King's tendergrill chicken to be pretty similar. But I got a huge shock when I bought that burger and opened up the wrapping. :( Head to my instagram if you wanted to see how the burger looked like, not a pretty sight and NOT AT ALL like the promotional photo.

{ Here is the photo of the miniature version and the real deal. }

After much deliberation and wondering if I should just make my own burger from scratch (I was only a few hours away from the workshop by then), I decided I'll try my luck at Mcdonald's. I saw that the Cheeseburger had a few elements I required - the buns without sesame seeds and the dark-coloured beef patty. However, it also had some ingredients which the miniature version didn't have.

So I headed down to my neighbourhood Mcdonald's, and made the craziest order in my life.

"Hello! Can I get a Cheeseburger, without pickles, without onions, without ketchup, without cheese. AND can I add on lettuce, mayonnaise and tomatoes?"

To be honest I was ready for the server to give me the evil eye before letting me know that it was not possible. BUT I was pleasantly surprised when the lady gave me a warm smile and went, "Sure! Now let me just try to key this in, it's a bit of a challenge." She was so sweet throughout the entire communication with the kitchen staff and I was so touched and ready to pay extra for my crazy special request.

Guess what, I only paid $1.50. Which means there wasn't even an extra charge!

Dear server lady at Bukit Batok MRT Mcdonald's, you totally made my day. And I'm going to carry around a miniature replica of the burger so that I can pass that to you when I see you again!

So that's just one of the stories which happened because of my workshops. There are so many to tell, good and bad ones. But let's leave the rest for another blog entry. :)

Finally, I'll like to thank all of the lovely people who came down for the workshop where we got to make the world's smallest burgers together! They're all holding up their creations in the picture above, and there sits the real deal in the centre beside my little workshop chalkboard. ♥

Also, the miniature burger was made into a earphone plug, which would help protect dust from entering your phone. It's also in the store! Already, I've got a customer who bought it and showed me a photo of the burger on her iPad, very cute if I may say so. :)

Chocolate bears and monster pancake.

Bears go growl. Chocolate bears too. :)

Miniature chocolate bears handsculpted by me. They come in white and milk chocolate.
These were so fun to make, though super tiny. :)

Part of the collaboration with Dragon Nest SEA , here are some morning pancakes with a side of syrup and some hot tea. Of course it also features their game characters. :)

On another note, you can now view the episode of Behind this Door with AiClay! I'm on Episode 3, just after the segment on the DJ.

P.S Do note that you'll require a paid Toggle account to view the episode, it's a bummer I know. :(

Making miniature burgers is one of the highly-requested-for workshop, and I'm so pleased to finally hold a

The story behind these hands.

For Singaporeans, I believe all of you should recognise the machine pictured below.
For the rest, this photo you see here is of an ATM of a pretty popular bank here. And they have machines EVERYWHERE island-wide.

AND in that upper right hand corner, is a photo demonstrating how to use the machine..

And those are my hands. Yes, mine.

Now let me backtrack a bit and explain how this all happened.

Earlier in the year, I received an email asking me if I would like to be a hand model in a project. Apparently someone at the company follow AiClay and noticed my hands as I was always using them as reference pictures in the photos of my works. I was so surprised and tickled that I actually got a hand model job due to my photos, and I agreed to the project because.. why not!

Side-note: I always have to photoshop my hands on AiClay photos by the way, because I have moles on them. I clarified this with the company, that urmm my hands aren't really flawless. But they were okay with this, and still took me on for the project, go figure!

This is a photo I managed to snap during the few hours of travelling around Singapore shooting at various machines. There was a whole team of 5 people just shooting my hands, pretty amazing since I only expected ONE photographer maybe. It wasn't super easy to pose for these photos, since there were quite a few requirements that you wouldn't even think of! Like how my fingers should rest naturally, and how I can't block the numbers on the keypad, etc.

I didn't manage to take any more photos because well, my hands were busy! Ha..ha. ;)

So it took a few months for the photos to appear on the machines, and now you really can see my hands everywhere now! Though nobody really notices these little demonstration photos on the machines, but it's still quite cool. :)

Roast meat noodles - with a Dragon Nest twist.

This was made as part of the collaboration between Dragon Nest and AiClay.

Players should be able to recognise the various characters infused in the food - like the tofu in the soup, the egg yolk etc. :) The hardest element to make was actually.. (make a guess!)

It was the cucumber slices. It took me pretty long to conceptualise and imagine cucumbers in the shape of the game character, guess I haven't seen much of cucumber slices cut in cute figures in real life.

Everything is handmade by me, and yes even the little chopsticks!

Some pink eggs.

Polkadots. Simple, plain dots.

That was what I decided to paint on the rest of the miniature Easter eggs.

Have to admit that this was a rather hastily-put together piece of work, as I spent too much time on the (fail) Easter egg with the swirls (look at photo before this) and it was getting closer to Easter weekend by the day. Just look what I had to use to fill up the mini table together with the basket of Easter eggs, Christmas decorations lol.

I hope you still like it though. :)

To everyone celebrating, happy Easter
To everyone else, hope you enjoyed the extra day of holiday! ♥

A fail easter egg.

So this is not your usual spring poster.

And, it was quite a fail as well. I liked the egg the whole process of painting it blue, doodling the design, and then I absolutely HATED it when I started filling in the doodles.

I contemplated not putting up the last photo of the painted egg, but I decided I wanted to share even my failed works with you. It was my first time painting with acrylic paint on polymer clay, and it was pretty darn hard. It dried too quickly, was impossible to mix the exact same shade again, and I had a crappy paintbrush.

Finally, I decided to paint this instead.. (watch out for next photo!) :)
